About Art of Healing
I created Art of Healing to help others as they are navigating grief and loss, depression, trauma or anxiety to find their path, and begin the art of healing.
My father is from Uruguay, my mother is from England and I grew up in Venezuela and Puerto Rico. When I was 13 I moved to the U.S. with my mother as my parents divorced. It was my first experience with a life transition that was out of my control and I felt alone and that I didn’t fit in.
11 years ago, I faced yet another unexpected and traumatic life transition. I found refuge in art making, and combined with therapy, I learned a lot about myself. Through my journey of grief and loss, art and therapy were my cairns and provided clarity and direction. I knew then that my purpose was to help others as they faced challenging times in their lives.
Using a person centered approach, I ensure that the modalities I use best fit my clients needs. My clients are the experts in themselves and I incorporate narrative therapy and teach creative and effective tools for my clients to rewrite their lives. I am passionate about empowering people to be confident, motivated and to create a life of purpose.
I have a lot of experience guiding clients through their experiences of grief after a loss. I am a Certified Creative Grief Practitioner and gained experience having “Re-Membering” conversations which provide a space to discuss the concept of the relationships we have with someone who passed, and find a way to explore that relationship in a way that provides my clients with peace. The relationship is explored through a lens of meaning making and the value of reincorporating the interests, concerns, hopes and values of the deceaseds life into the life of the living. This is a relationship that can evolve over time as we grow, which is really empowering. I also have a lot of experience working with clients to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma.
